Medical Unit

VMH Tooele Unit provides comprehensive psychiatric services to eligible Tooele County residents. Psychotropic medications and management of these medications are provided on an outpatient basis. Our highly trained medical staff treats most major psychiatric disorders. Our units primary clientele being that of the Seriously and Persistently Mentally Ill (adults) and the Seriously and Emotionally Disturbed (children) within Tooele County. These services are mostly restricted to Medicaid and unfunded clientele.

The illnesses treated include psychotic, mood, and anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, including the dually diagnosed, attention-deficit and disruptive behavior disorders, personality disorders and many other psychiatric disorders not listed here as they are numerous.

For severely psychotic disordered patients our medical staff can assist with the treatment, referral and coordination of care into higher levels of psychiatric treatment when necessary. Follow up treatment is also provided as needed.

Our medical staff consists of a full-time board-certified generalist psychiatrist, a registered nurse, and a part-time child psychiatrist.
