Valley Mental Health-Summit County: Demographics Levels of Treatment for Substance Abuse

When working with substance abuse treatment needs Valley Mental Health considers four levels of treatment for which VMH either provides direct services or contracts with other providers to meet our clients' needs. The four levels are:

Level I General Outpatient

Clinical Staff

General outpatient services presently offered include:

  • Intake and Assessment
  • Individual, Group, and Family Therapy
  • Psychiatric Care and Medication Management
  • Case Management
  • 24-hour Crisis Support Services

These services are available at our Park City, Kamas & Coalville offices.

ADT (Adult Day Treatment)

Capacity: 6-20 depending on program.
Program Characteristics: Over 50 day treatment programs are available.
Schedule: Programs are offered daily including evening and weekends.
Duration: As needed.
Sessions per Week: Varies depending on program and client.

Adults, men and women, and adolescents.

Level III.1 Low Intensity: Residential/Transitional Housing

Valley Mental Health's ARTU (Adult Residential Treatment Unit)

Capacity: 16, both men and women. Some crisis overflow if needed.
Program Characteristics:
Schedule: 24-hour, 7 days per week.
Duration: Short-term stay.
Sessions per Week: Negotiated with client. Treatment is individualized.

Level III.2 Clinically Monitored Detox./Social Detox.

Volunteers of America Receiving/Detoxification Center

Program Characteristics:
Schedule: 24-hour.
Duration: 3-4 days average length of stay.
Sessions per Week:

Level III.5 High Intensity Residential

Utah Alcoholism Foundation

ARC - Provo

Capacity: 42 -- 14 women, 28 men.
Program Characteristics:
Schedule: 24-hour, 7 days per week.
Duration: 60 day minimum.
Sessions per Week: 30 hours group, 2 individual, and 4 AA meetings.
Populations or Services Offered Within This Program: Both men and women.

Level IV Medical Managed Detox.

Arrangement for Medical Management Detox is done at UNI.
