Summit County Crisis Intervention Team In partnership with Summit County and Park City School District
Purpose
The purpose of the Summit County Crisis Intervention Team is to resolve traumatic events through individual and group support for the school community including students, staff and parents. The crisis intervention team is a team of professionals, as authorized by the Park City School District, assigned to develop and implement appropriate guidance and services to students and school personnel when a crisis or tragedy occurs. A tragic incident or death of a student, teacher, or staff member can be a traumatic event affecting the school and community. Therefore, the crisis intervention team will provide professional assistance to a school community when any traumatic incident occurs. Cooperative and successful intervention promotes feelings of pride and empowerment with the school environment and fosters trust and support from the community. Members of the crisis intervention team are made up of professional individuals from agencies including Park City, North Summit and South Summit School Districts, Valley Mental Health, Park City Police Department, Summit County Sheriff's Office and Emergency Management Team, Summit County Health Department and the Domestic Peace Task Force. The population of individuals served by the crisis team are those students or school personnel who are in crisis. The team will identify potential problems and facilitate communication between the school, home and community agencies, to help prevent secondary crisis.
