Parenting Education

Purpose

Specific workshops in "Basic Parenting," "Parenting 101," "Parenting Preschoolers," "Parenting Teens," "Parent-Teen Communication" and "Parenting High-Energy Kids" are offered at various locations on rotating schedules throughout Summit County. Hosted by Prevention Specialists and Therapists of Valley Mental Health, classes focus on setting limits, improving communication, reducing conflict, understanding development and improving quality of family life. A monthly "Lunch & Learn" parenting series is held at Valley Mental Health in Park City to meet the needs of local working parents to meet the needs of the community. Workshops are free. Workshop times vary as both daytime and evening classes are available depending on the workshop. Workshops on average run 4-6 weeks, or one time per month, depending on classes for approximately 1 - 2 hours per week. Workshops are available for parents of all ages, parents of toddlers, parents of teens, and parents of "high-energy" kids. Some workshops are given on an ongoing basis and others as needed.
