Purpose

1. "Can We Talk?" is based on a nationwide model of parent/teen discussion forums aimed at addressing issues of improving communication, expectations and limits, alcohol and drug use, teen sexuality, enhancing social bonding, and other topics of interest. Hosted by Prevention Specialists of Valley Mental Health, forums meet one night a week (for one hour) continually for 6-12 weeks at local high schools, and offer extra credit or detention credit for attending students. Participants are volunteers, but attendance at forums may serve as court alternatives to fines or community service. Discussion forums are free.
